It's been a pretty big last few days on the sports media news front. Reports that the next Big Ten deal will center around packages from Fox, CBS and NBC...and not ESPN, will impact not just future Big Ten budgets, but Pac-12 and Big 12 budgets, college basketball scheduling, Notre Dame, and much more.

I want to talk about those developments. But this is Extra Points, after all, which means there's another development I want to talk about first.

Let's talk about the big sports media news in D-II.

Last month, FloSports signed their first major D-II media deal, inking the entire SAC to a four-year deal. Last week, they signed an even bigger deal, coming to terms with the GLIAC. Official terms were not disclosed, but a source familiar with the deals told Extra Points that the SAL deal was worth "seven figures."

After speaking with several officials at both SAC and GLIAC institutions, I'm told that the per-school annual rights fee for both deals is in the "five figures", with GLIAC institutions earning more, on average, than SAC institutions. To say that this is a far cry from the massive Big Ten deal, where member schools are likely to pull in over $100 million a year...well, that'd be a bit of an understatement.
