Good morning, and thanks for your continued support of Extra Points.

It's been a weird week, with the holiday and with me being on the road so much. Thanks for your patience!

Here's a few fascinating things I've read this week.

The NAIA can shed some light on what the NIL marketplace might look like

We're still a few weeks away from some NCAA college athletes being able to monetize their NIL without risk of NCAA penalty, as multiple state laws kick in on July 1. But that doesn't mean college athletes haven't been monetizing their NIL already.

The NAIA figured this whole thing out last October. Kristi Dosh, writing at Forbes, looked into what some of those current NIL deals look like.

At the high end, you have Chloe Mitchell, a freshman volleyball athlete at Aquinas College, a liberal arts college in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mitchell has 2.6 million followers on TikTok, and she's leveraged that massive following into TikTok sponsorship deals worth $18,000.
