Here's who is helping support the Extra Points Bowl, which is next week
WE'RE ALMOST THERE
Good morning, and thanks for spending part of your day with Extra Points.
Friends, the Extra Points Bowl is almost here. Tomorrow is the last week of the D-III regular season, and #sources tell me that the participants for the Extra Points Bowl will be officially announced at roughly 6:30 PM ET on Sunday. We’ll send out a Super Bonus Email right when the teams are finalized.
We have a few big updates about the game I want to share…
Hey Matt, we know you’re the title sponsor for the Extra Points Bowl, but bowl games don’t happen alone. What other #brands are helping the game?
Great question!
First, the Extra Points Bowl is part of the Opendorse Bowl Series, which includes a second game. That game, featuring teams from the NCAC and Heartland conferences, will be called the ForeverLawn Bowl. We’re thrilled for both leagues, and thankful that ForeverLawn is helping us support D-III college football.
We have several other partners helping specifically with the Extra Points Bowl. Those companies include:
Homefield Apparel, Visit Canton, The Sole Truth, RefQuest Plus, Defector.com, Feed Your Mascot, Midwest Scholastic, The Sickos Committee, Opendorse
AND MORE!
These companies have stepped up to offer bowl gifts for our athletes, promotional materials and resources for the game, and monetary contributions to help offset travel and food expenses for the participating schools. Homefield is also making the championship shirts!
We are actually still looking for companies who may be willing to contribute gifts for the ForeverLawn Bowl, such as gift cards, discounts, or merch valued at under $350. We could probably also squeeze in another Extra Points Bowl sponsorship if we get details very quickly. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information, and spread the word to small businesses in your network who might benefit from a little extra exposure in the great state of Ohio.
I don’t live anywhere near Stark County. How can I watch the game?
The Extra Points Bowl will be streamed on FloSports. You can sign up for a subscription right here, which also gets you access to a ton of other small college athletic programming and a lot more. We’ll have more specific updates on the streaming system next week.
But if you DO happen to live within driving distance of Canton, I think you should go to the game! Or better yet, BOTH games!
How do I buy tickets?
You can buy tickets just about anywhere you’d buy tickets on the internet, like on VividSeats or Ticketmaster. The games are listed as the Opendorse Bowl Series because ONE TICKET GETS YOU INTO BOTH GAMES. THAT’S JUST ECONOMICAL FAMILY-FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT RIGHT THERE.
Tickets are $20 for general admission or $40 for club seats. And good news! If you buy a ticket, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will also give you a $6 discount on HOF admission AND a 20% discount to the HOF Store from Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
Will I get anything else if I show up to the game in person?
Besides the thrill of high-quality D-III football, tailgates, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Experience and my personal gratitude?
I also just ordered a ton of stickers and I’ll be giving them out to fans. Might give out some free EP subscriptions. Might even pay for your ticket. WHO KNOWS?!?
Did we order those ridiculous bowl sponsor jackets?
We sure did! I uh, need to get this tailored and get the patch properly sewn on, but:
If there’s interest, I’d be happy to sell those patches. A few people have asked about buying the jacket, but I don’t think I could sell them for cheaper than, like, $130, in order to pay for all the expenses. If that number doesn’t make you flinch, uh, then sure, I’d be happy to get you a jacket of your own.
I’d show a picture of me wearing it, but I haven’t had time to get a haircut and somebody on the internet said I look like Matt Gaetz SO NO MORE PICTURES UNTIL I GET THAT FIXED.
Anyway, a quick word from today’s newsletter sponsor before a few other things I want to pass along…

Here’s what else we wrote, talked about and wanted to share this week:
We hired a full-time sales executive this week! His name is Steven, and he’d LOVE to help you promote your brand in Extra Points, help you get a screamin’ deal on newsletter subscriptions, and get you access to our massive FOIA’d documents collection, Extra Points Library. His email is [email protected].
Earlier this week, I finally shared the last details of my reporting trip at Hawaii, where I flew with the team to Fresno State so I could understand what really goes into mass athlete travel. I gotta say, even with chartering flights, nearly unlimited snacks and working Wi-Fi, it’s a long and disruptive trip!
I dug into the archives to try and put this Florida State football season into historical context and… I pretty much can’t. Elite teams have almost never cratered like this before.
I got a copy of the term sheet between San Diego State and the Pac-12 during realignment fever, and it has a few interesting nuggets for my conference realignment sickos.
We can afford to hire salespeople, sponsor bowl games, fly to Hawaii, and do all the other cool stuff we do, thanks to your support and subscriptions.
I’ll see you in your inbox on Sunday evening. I promise, not everything we write over the next few days will be related to the Extra Points Bowl. But hey, it’s not every day you get to sponsor your own bowl game! So I hope you’ll forgive our excitement.
