Good morning, and thanks for your continued support of Extra Points.

The Saint Peter's Peacocks are unquestionably the darling Cinderella story of this NCAA Men's Tournament. A school most people hadn't heard of until this month? Check. Goofy mascot? Check. Player with ridiculous facial hair? Check. They're perfect.

They're a wonderful story, but even casual college basketball fans know they weren't the first, and they won't be the last. Today, the Peacocks strut across ground first tread by UMBC, Florida Gulf Coast, Butler, VCU, George Mason, Hampton, Cleveland State, and so many others.

But who was the first?

Well, that's a bit of a complicated question, given the topsy-turvy history of the NCAA Tournament, and perhaps a fluid definition of Cinderella. Let's crack open the history books and take a look.
