As my readers are quite aware, there are still several D-I conferences looking into making membership changes, either to replace departing members or to expand to better achieve other strategic objectives. After hitting the phones over the last few days, here is the latest that I'm hearing about several of those conferences.

What's the latest for the OVC and Big South?

Last week, the OVC and Big South announced a football-0nly merger, a move that ensures members of both conferences will still have access to the FCS Playoffs, while establishing a modicum of stability in both leagues. I think it's a great move, honestly.

During our conversation, commissioners of both leagues told me that this partnership wouldn't prevent either conference from potentially making additions down the line.

As far as the OVC goes, at least in the short term, I would not expect one of those additions to be Grand Valley State.
