What makes a good mascot? I asked the guy who invented like, half of them

Good morning, and thanks for your continued support of Extra Points.

Mascots are fun! We like watching them ride motorcycles. Or dunk basketballs. My kids, who don't even particularly like sports, are even interested in mascots.

It's one thing to ask my children if a mascot is "good" or not. But hey, four-year olds have questionable taste. Surely schools don't just hand a drawing pad and some foam to elementary school children and say "okay, go make a mascot!"...right?

No, they use professionals. I wanted to better understand what goes into making these guys, so I called up an expert, Tom Sapp.
