Good morning, and thanks for your continued support of Extra Points.
Quick housekeeping note: I am flying out this afternoon to Charlotte for the Sports Marketing Association Conference. I'll be in town until Friday afternoon, hoping to learn more about academic research on college sports, and how D1.classroom may be a resource for more institutions. I am also speaking on a panel on Thursday about NIL developments across the country. If you're in town, drop me a line! I'd love to chat.
Late last week, I had the chance to talk with Gloria Nevarez, the commissioner of the West Coast Conference, about a number of different topics, including the potential expansion or reform of NCAA postseason events, how the WCC is approaching conference realignment, and what the league has learned after implementing the Russell Rule.
If you have a Collegiate Sports Connect account, you can watch the entire conversation in full. But for those who don't have one, or simply prefer to read, I want to share some of those answers below:
What does the WCC think about expanding the NCAA basketball tournaments?
