A new offer, and update, from Extra Points
I think you'll want to open this email
Hey friends, it’s Matt Brown, the publisher of Extra Points.
Before you close your email and focus on a weekend of basketball and brackets, I wanted to share a quick update, and a special offer, with you.
I’m so glad you appear to be enjoying Extra Points. But in addition to the emails you read each week, I actually send out two more emails to our premium subscribers, emails that regularly include original reporting, unique interviews, and even more of what makes Extra Points…Extra Points. It also includes access to our computer game, Athletic Director Simulator 4000.
Our premium content includes stuff like mid-major conference realignment updates, breaking news on the development of EA Sports College Football, interviews with college athletics industry professionals, analysis of major legal and political developments in college sports, and much, much more.
The revenue that we earn from premium subscriptions makes up more than 90% of our gross revenue each year. I’m in the process of spending more than ever to build the infrastructure we need to be less dependent on subscription revenue, and I’ll tell you all about those plans in a few weeks,…but the majority of our revenue will always come from subscriptions. I write about niche stuff. It’s really the only way to make the math work.
Your subscriptions help pay for things like travel to conferences and events, payments for freelance writers, FOIA fees, equipment, and increasingly, the services and vendors we need to help Extra Points continue to grow.
But I get it. Paying for stuff on the internet is complicated, you already get a ton of emails, and you’re not sure if you’re ready to pull the trigger on a premium Extra Points subscription.
So tell you what. I’ll knock 20% off the price, just for you, just this week. This offer is good until next Friday, so don’t feel obligated to upgrade right this very second…although I think it’d be neat if you did.
If that’s too much scratch for you justify right now, I completely get it. But if you still love Extra Points, want to support it and just can’t afford it…would you be willing to share it with a friend? I’m happy to give free subscriptions to folks who refer new readers, free or paid, to Extra Points:
Thanks for your readership, support, and for opening an email on a Friday. If there’s everything I can do to help make this a better newsletter for you, please drop me a line at [email protected].
I’ll see you on the internet,
Matt
