THE 2024 EXTRA POINTS BOWL will feature the Marietta Pioneers and the Westminster (PA) Titans
We'll see you in Canton this Saturday!
Good evening, and thanks for your continued support of Extra Points.
Normally, this newsletter goes out first thing in the morning. But when you have super important news, well, it can’t wait until tomorrow.
We’ve talked about it for months, but we now know exactly who will play in the 2024 Extra Points Bowl.
The game will feature the Marietta Pioneers and the Westminster (PA) Titans.
In case you’ve missed it earlier, this newsletter is sponsoring a bowl game. The Extra Points Bowl, part of the Opendorse Bowl Series, will kick off a 6:00 PM ET THIS SATURDAY (Nov 23) at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
And if that isn’t enough football for you, earlier in the day, we’ll also have the ForeverLawn Bowl, which will feature Hanover against Wabash. That game is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 PM ET. Tickets will include access to both games.
You can buy tickets at Ticketmaster. General admission seats at $20, and Box Seats are $40. If you’re planning on enjoying alcoholic beverages, you’ll need to spring for the box seats, as that is the only place in the stadium where alcohol will be sold.
Your ticket will also get you a discount to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Hall of Fame Store, if you’re looking to make a weekend out of your trip to Canton.
But if you can’t make it to Ohio for the game, fear not! You can watch it from home!
Both games will be broadcast on FloSports, via their new FloCollege platform. Users can stream the game on their device of choice via the FloSports App, or your TV with the FloSports Connected TV App. More details on the broadcast, including the specific announcers, will be available via FloSports on Monday.
Coverage of the Opendorse Bowl Series will start on FloSports, I’m told, at 1:00 PM ET.
We plan to write in substantially more detail about both squads, but if you need a quick cheat sheet:
Marietta finished with an 8-2 record (7-2 in OAC play), good for third in the Ohio Athletic Conference. You might recognize that league as the home of D-III superpower Mount Union. The Pioneers played Mount Union tough (losing only 28-21), as well as fellow D-III Playoff participant John Carroll, and completely blasted through the rest of their schedule. The team has one of the best scoring defenses in the entire country, paced by a powerful pass rush.
Westminster finished 7-3 on the year in a very competitive PAC (the league sent three teams to the Playoff). The Titans came up just short against Washington & Jefferson, and knocked off solid Case Western Reserve and Geneva squads during the regular season. A well-balanced offensive team with a lot of depth, the Titans also allow less than 16 points a game.
Should be a fun one!
What can you tell us about any bowl game #swag for us regular ol’ fans?
I placed a huge order of stickers this week, and I’ll be walking around to give them away at the tailgates and in the stands. We will have a mechanism to get stickers to Extra Points subscribers who cannot attend after the game. We have a few leftover Extra Points Bowl patches that I’m going to send to folks who submitted excellent trophy designs…and I’ll continue to see if there are economical ways we can sell some of those bowl jackets.
We’ll have more updates later this week, and on social media, so make sure you’re following along everywhere we are:

More soon!
